New Functionality -eBook path bookmarking
We have been asked to add schematic eBook route tracing. E.g., in the case of a railway engineering team, they are working on a 15 mile stretch of track between Dundee and Montrose, within the schematic this route covers 4 pages that are not continuous. Whist on the phone between the team, various breakpoints along the line are discussed. To cure this antiquated problem of roue navigation, could we add the route as a bookmarked route.
The problem navigating eBook topological maps
When navigating a map in book or eBook form, the route is rarely paging 1,2,3. The path is usually paging 1,14,15,3. So we have implemented route booking for our eBook. If your maintenance team are working on a specific track or long road the ability to follow a set path is fundamental. Firstly, finding intermap links at the end of specific paths is difficult. Zooming clicking to follow your path between pages and back has proved difficult.
The solution recording and saving a map route.
We have introduced path recording. A route can be recorded by clicking the record button. Once the path has been recorded the route can be saved as a route bookmark. So, if this a frequent path though the schematic map the path route can be opened and navigated easily. Go to bookmarks and open “Dundee – Montrose”.
Opening a map route bookmark
Using the eBook path route booking tool increases productivity, even using a traditional book with multicoloured path bookmarks is cumbersome. Open book open route bookmark and navigate to incident page is a great enhancement to our schematic eBook reader.
The route bookmark has it own internal navigation; Page 1, Next Page and Previous Page. No more searching for intermap link hotspots.
